Having the Right Wound Care Supplies In Your First Aid Kit Means Everything

When you were little, your parents always had a first-aid kit. Any time that you had any sort of cut, scrape, burn, or any other injury, you mom was always right there with her little white box with the big, red cross on the front. The importance of having a first-aid kit has not changed since you were a kid. It is still of paramount importance that you have one in your home at all times.

In fact, you should keep one in every place that you spend a lot of time. Have one in your car, and you can even have one at your job just in case something was to happen. Everyone in your family should know where the first-aid kit is kept and how to get to it. Having the right wound care products in your first-aid kit is the most important part of having one. After all, if you don’t have the necessary supplies in your first-aid kit, why have one at all?

So, what wound care products do you need to have in your kit? First of all, start with the basics. Make sure your kit has soap in it, but add in some hand sanitizer in case you can’t get to a sink and need to dress a wound. You will need bandages, gauze, dressings, and tape to secure your dressings. You will also need some sort of antibiotic ointment to clean any wound that might arise. Another part of any good first-aid kit is several pairs of latex or synthetic gloves.

There are so many other wound care products that you will need for your kit and you can find them all online. What other supplies will you need? You will need plastic bags for when you have to get rid of your infected supplies. You will also need scissors to cut your dressings, and tweezers for those deep splinters. Also, make sure you have some sort of eyewash in your kit just in case the wound you’re dealing with is an eye injury from a chemical.

While you can buy many of your wound care products online, it’s also important to have some basic medicines in your first-aid kit too. Have activated charcoal in your kit in case someone swallows something that could make them sick. Additionally, make sure you have calamine lotion for bug bites and aloe vera for burns.
